Mission of the Ministry
The mission of our Ministry is to provide the highest possible level of security in the state, which is attained through preventive rather than repressive action of the law enforcement agencies. Aiming to implement both tasks, the Ministry of the Interior is responsible for public security and police, internal administrative affairs and migrations, pursuant to the State Administration Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, no. 24/05 – officially consolidated text).
Fields of Activity
The Ministry of the Interior, together with the Police and the Internal Affairs Inspectorate of the Republic of Slovenia as autonomous bodies within its framework, performs tasks defined by law in the following fields of activity:
In the Ministry we are also responsible for the coordination of European affairs and international cooperation in the field of security.
