The Ministry of the Interior is engaged in international activities at bilateral and multilateral levels. Bilaterally, our cooperation activities involve tasks related to internal administrative affairs, migration and supervision of police work. The Office for European Affairs and International Cooperation is in charge of coordinating these activities at the level of the Minister and the State Secretary.

Multilaterally, we work together with a range of international governmental and non-governmental organisations. The Office coordinates cooperation activities between those international organisations and the organisational units of the Ministry. In addition, the Office personnel are fully engaged in those organisations as permanent members of committees or working groups, delegates at sessions or conferences, experts assigned to particular projects, members of missions, and lecturers and participants in training programmes.

The Office for European Affairs and International Cooperation is responsible for:

• planning, harmonisation and implementation of tasks related to European affairs
• planning, harmonisation and implementation of tasks related to the ministry’s international cooperation

The Office for European Affairs and International Cooperation directly cooperates and communicates with foreign diplomatic and consular missions in the Republic of Slovenia, offices responsible for international relations of foreign ministries of the interior, competent bodies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, and Slovenian diplomatic and consular missions abroad.
