Participation of the Slovenian Minister of the Interior Dragutin Mate at the public symposium Safety and Sport

The Slovenian Minister of the Interior Dragutin Mate will attend a meeting following the invitation by his Austrian counterpart Günther Platter which will take place on 23 March 2007 in Ischgl, Austria.

Franco Frattini, Vice President of the European Commission, the Portuguese Minister of the Interior Antonio Costa and the Luxembourg Minister of Justice Luc Frieden have also been invited to the meeting in Ischgl. The participants will discuss safety and security at sport events, namely in the light of the preparations for the forthcoming European Football Championship EURO 2008 that will take place in June 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.

 

Minister Mate and Minister Platter will also discuss bilateral cooperation in this field and Slovenia's help in securing safety at this championship. An important topic of discussions will be mutual efforts in preventing and limiting hooliganism, which is often threatening football events of this size. At the meeting the participants will also examine the possibilities for cooperation on similar events.
